I did NOT make this, just passing it around. And i know few people will probably give a shit about it but it's better than none... I'm poor, so this will be easy for me, i'll do it for the sake of the internet.
But i doubt it will pass anyway...
Since we're at it, i might as well just share this video too. I've recently just watched it, and people been sharing this a lot. SOPA, PIPA, and now there's ACTA?
I'm totally against SOPA and PIPA (I was preaching this back when everyone was still pretty much ignoring it), but this is a TERRIBLE idea for films. I agree on every other front, but a film's whole success depends on a few weeks in the theatre and The Hunger Games is coming out in march. I don't want The Hunger Games to fail just because of some greedy people. It would have a snowball effect on great films like this being made again, and it's not the author's fault that the large companies were supporting this legislation.
just got stuff for my birthday. i will try holding out but can't promise anything. i don't think SOPA or anything will pass anyway. it's intentions are good, but what if it blocks youtube, i would not be a happy.
Not to be the odd man out here, but I am most certainly not in. I am 100% against SOPA/PIPA, but their intentions were good, and frankly, the Megaupload shutdown was not too extreme in my opinion. I agree that no one -- not even the government -- should be able to censor the internet. But piracy not only takes money from people's pockets, it also is one of the huge contributors to a bad economy. Megaupload was one of the bigger resources for piracy. I wouldn't be surprised if the economy bettered with Megauplaod's shutdown; although with this blackout month plan, that might ruin things.
Everyone might think, "I'm only just one person, and if I download an anime or music album or two, it isn't going to make a difference. And even if I didn't, it's not like everyone else is going to stop, so it even more won't make a difference." Guess what, as long as everyone thinks that, the government will keep having a reason to stop piracy. And good on them. (Except when they try things like SOPA/PIPA). There has to be a group change, and the way that works in some cases is you -- yes, the person reading this -- the individual, has to play fair.
If anyone has anything to add or counter, please do -- I'm always learning new things and opinions/sides.
