I did NOT make this, just passing it around. And i know few people will probably give a shit about it but it's better than none... I'm poor, so this will be easy for me, i'll do it for the sake of the internet.
But i doubt it will pass anyway...
Since we're at it, i might as well just share this video too. I've recently just watched it, and people been sharing this a lot. SOPA, PIPA, and now there's ACTA?
I'm totally against SOPA and PIPA (I was preaching this back when everyone was still pretty much ignoring it), but this is a TERRIBLE idea for films. I agree on every other front, but a film's whole success depends on a few weeks in the theatre and The Hunger Games is coming out in march. I don't want The Hunger Games to fail just because of some greedy people. It would have a snowball effect on great films like this being made again, and it's not the author's fault that the large companies were supporting this legislation.
just got stuff for my birthday. i will try holding out but can't promise anything. i don't think SOPA or anything will pass anyway. it's intentions are good, but what if it blocks youtube, i would not be a happy.
Not to be the odd man out here, but I am most certainly not in. I am 100% against SOPA/PIPA, but their intentions were good, and frankly, the Megaupload shutdown was not too extreme in my opinion. I agree that no one -- not even the government -- should be able to censor the internet. But piracy not only takes money from people's pockets, it also is one of the huge contributors to a bad economy. Megaupload was one of the bigger resources for piracy. I wouldn't be surprised if the economy bettered with Megauplaod's shutdown; although with this blackout month plan, that might ruin things.
Everyone might think, "I'm only just one person, and if I download an anime or music album or two, it isn't going to make a difference. And even if I didn't, it's not like everyone else is going to stop, so it even more won't make a difference." Guess what, as long as everyone thinks that, the government will keep having a reason to stop piracy. And good on them. (Except when they try things like SOPA/PIPA). There has to be a group change, and the way that works in some cases is you -- yes, the person reading this -- the individual, has to play fair.
If anyone has anything to add or counter, please do -- I'm always learning new things and opinions/sides.
Unfortunately, from what I can find, ACTA was signed as a treaty in October of last year. They are reopening the treaty to signatures in march, but almost every major player is on board, and the White House actually refuses to reveal the text of ACTA. Thank you for sharing that video, though. It brings to light a lot of the shady dealings that we have had to deal with.
Anyway, I don't want to wax political, only to say thanks for the eye-opener, and I would be totally on board but that I have to play Mass Effect 3.
No he hasn't. He has promised that in it current state he will veto it if it came to that. However, A) He has said with certain changes he would approve SOPA. B) Even if he did not a veto can be overturned with a 2/3 vote, which with the bill's number of supporters in Congress, it almost certainly will have.
No thanks, only the everyday average employee working for the companies would suffer from a boycott. If this could actually work who do you think would lose their jobs to layoffs when companies have to make budget cuts?
Are the world govenments serious!? Do they want us to pick up arms and march upon them with the intent to kill? Do they want us to burn their laws and hang them from their golden towers? Do they want to give us a reason to spread rebellion and anarchy? This is a recipe for disaster and chaos, undermining the hard work everyone has put down these last 100 years!
lol, looks like i'm in the black march already. i've been doing this since... i don't know... like april when i gots me Metroid Prime 2?... no wait... i got my 3 month gold membership in may... that counts too, right? so yeah, i've been in the black march since may... boy does it suck not having a job.
all joking aside, i will not be performing any purchases this March in support of furthering this bill protest to another level. since i am meking no impact between the two quarters, i will use the power of facebook and multiply my zero into 8, possibly. (lol, you can't do that in mathematics.)
